The office will be closed from 5pm on Tuesday, 23 December, and will reopen at 8am on Monday, 5 January. A limited number of staff will be available during this close down period.

As the year wraps up and the festive season begins, we’d like to say a big ngā mihi to you for trusting Velocity & Caveo and partnering with us throughout the year. This year has also reminded us of the importance of connection and care. We deeply appreciate the support and kindness shown following the loss of our colleague and friend, Tania Crocker. She will always be part of our story, and our thoughts are with her whānau this Christmas.

In September, Velocity Financial Co-Director and Financial Adviser Brendon Ojaja set off on his solo hiking adventure along the Te Araroa Trail, expected to take around 4 months.
Since our last update in November, Brendon has officially passed the halfway point at around km 1537km and has moved in the second phase of his journey, navigating his way through the South Island.
He’s conquered rugged terrain, met awesome hikers, and had a couple of classic mishaps, like cooking noodles without the seasoning packet (sad dinner vibes!), a mouse eating its way through his pack to his chocolate bar stash, and accidentally washing his socks in a stream only to watch one float away downstream. This week he's enjoying a 'zero day' at St Arnaud (km 1992), indulging in cooked breakfasts and soaking up Lake Rotoiti’s views. We look forward to plenty more stories and stunning scenery ahead!
Brendon is expected to return to the office in February 2026. While Brendon is away, his dedicated support team at Velocity Financial will continue to provide seamless service.

As 2025 draws to a close, we’re proud to have supported several team members in graduating with their qualifications in Financial Services over the past 18 months. Next year, even more of our team will graduate soon with new credentials, and we couldn’t be prouder. Watch this space!
As Christmas approaches and the official industry conference events calendar winds down, our Financial Advisory Team remains committed to staying informed. This December, we attended an Asteron-hosted event to sharpen our personal insurance insights and ensure we deliver the latest to our clients. With 2026 shaping up to be another busy year, the team is making the most of a slightly slower month, especially as they work hard to get client applications across the line before Christmas!

We’re continuing to embrace AI to enhance our financial services offering. Our team is advancing through Financial Advice New Zealand’s AI training programme, expanding Microsoft 365 Copilot use, and testing new solutions via dedicated AI governance and training groups.
